I. Opening & Announcements
A. Welcome & Introduction
The meeting was called to order at 7:30 pm.
The Chairman welcomed everyone who was able to attend. The meeting was held in Room 743 as another group was inadvertently allowed to use Room 739 and they convened their meeting before our meeting started.

B. Feedback from members/prospective members
The Chairman reported that a number of members/prospective members were complaining that they don't hear what's going on in the association. This problem can be easily remedied by those who attend the mmetings go back to their respective offices and report what topics were discussed and/or decisions made. It is particularly recommended that the association's officers and board members take responsibility for ensuring that they share association related information with others at their respective work sites.
It was also recommended that a training session be held for the recently bulletined Eligibility Supervisor Exam. More on this later.
II. Secretary's Report
No report was given.
III. Treasurer's Report
Amelita Ibay submitted a written report which was then reviewed and discussed.
Mrs. Ibay reported that the association owed Noel Martinez $100 for Roger Lorenzo's retirement celebration. Antonio Roldan indicated he would contribute $20 and Rueben Basconcillo reported he would contribute $25 to help reimburse Mr. Martinez. The funds paid by Anthony Aco and Edwin Monteagudo would also be applied to the amount owed.
IV. Results of November 2007 FilAmEA Election
The Chairman reported the results of the election of the Executive Officers and six members of the board of directors.
Executive Officers:

V. Proposal: Extending the Term of Office for Incumbent Executive Officers
A proposal was made to extend the term of office for the "incumbent" executive officers until a new president and vice president could be elected. The motion was seconded and carried.
VI. Discussion: New Election of Executive Officers (President, Vice President, PRO)
Several in attendance were asked if they would run for president or vice president. They indicated they would think about it. Tentative plans were made to hold an election at the next regularly scheduled monthly meeting - April 10, 2008. Only those in attendance will be allowed to vote.
VII. Report: Romeo Galdones' Medical Status
Beda Sasis reported that he had visited with Mrs. Galdones at the California Rehabilitation facility in Van Nuys. He reported that Romy's condition is still the same.
VIII. Report: Beda's Fundraising Project
Beda Sasis reported that his bicycle ride during the L.A. Marathon was a success. Tony Roldan also reported that he had approached Jacob Aguilar for a contribution. His contribution will be added to the considerable sum raised by Mr. Sasis and everyone who helped him. Plans were made to present a check to the Galdones family on Saturday afternoon, March 29, 2008.
IX. Discussion: Promotions
Dee Abellera reported that she really enjoys working at her new department - Department of Family and Children's Services. Edwin Monteguado was also promoted to a management position in the Probation Department. Another Filipino manager also accepted a management level position at the OAAC.
The group decided to have a celebration for the new promotees within the department as well as those who were promoted to other departments. The celebration will be held at Tony Roldan's house on Saturday, June 14, 2008.
X. Announcement: Filipino-Americans Who Recently Passed Promotional Exams
It was announced that those who participated in the test taking seminars conducted by Beda Sasis, Tony Roldan, Rosuetta Rodriguez and Cory Macias successfully passed the HSA I exam but that they had not yet received their official notifications indicating their band. Hopefully, everyone will be reachable (the right band) for their preferred work site.
XI. Test Preparation Seminar for Upcoming Promotional Exams
Based on the success of the test preparation seminars, it was decided to have another session for the Eligibility Supervisor Exam.
